Fashion Folk

This season is all about everything folk fashion, from swinging 60’s bell sleeves to flowing flower power dresses, it is all about vintage inspired style. Burberry Prorsum presented warm, autumn tones on long folk dresses and ponchos while Chloe showed off the 70’s bell sleeve on tailored jackets and coats, Lanvin however updated the 70’s trend with sequins and fur but maintained the classic hippy look with loose fitting styles. But of course many of us can’t afford the designer brands that lead these trends in the world of fashion and so I have found some cheaper alternatives off the high street and online!

Missguided £25 Bell sleeve woven croptop in white

This is a great look for any end of summer festival or holidays and it is simple to incorporate into an outfit. Either take inspiration from Missguided with a fringed suede skirt and shades or maybe go proper hippy chick with flared patterned trousers and some platform heels.

Topshop £59.00 Chiffon maxi dress by Oh My Love

This is an absolutely gorgeous dress with floral patterning and dramatic chiffon material which will help you make an entrance to any summer party. With the flowing material the dress would look amazing with lace up the leg sandals or for something a bit more dressy, chunky heels. But beware not to loose length off the dress with heels as it could turn it into an ankle swinging cut…not a good look!

River Island £68.00 Brown Faux Fur Gilet

This trend is a must for AW15 style as fur coats, gilets and accessories have been seen all over the catwalks this year and so it may be time to invest in a staple faux fur piece for your wardrobe. This gilet reminds me of a coat seen on the AW15 Valentino runway and would look amazing with a similar outfit seen on the catwalk. Pair the jacket with flared black trousers and a high neck cream tucked in blouse and boots for an ultra cool city style with a folk twist.

Lads Style

Lads Style

My pick of stylish lads!
Ryan Gosling – Always knows how to dress chic but casual with his leather jackets and rugged boots.
Jared Leto – One of the few men who can pull off a dipdye ombre hairstyle. He always dresses immaculately for the awards seasons and knows how to pull off his tailored looks, particularly with his use of accessories.
Idris Elba – One of the coolest men about, Idris looks amazing in this grey suit with red checks, let’s hope he’s the next Mr Bond, cos he knows how to wear a suit.
Ryan Reynolds – Such a fashionable man, he looks amazing in his trench coats with casual jumpers and jeans, but lets be honest he can pull off anything with his looks!
Nicholas Hoult – Lovely british lad, he’s so cute and looks great in quirky outfits with his awkward skinny look which looks great in bright jackets and button up to the collar shirts.
Joseph Gordon Levitt – I fell in love with him after 500 days of summer, where he proved his geeky cute looks in jumpers over shirts with jeans. Throw on some headphones and scruff up your hair and you’ll look just like Tom from the film.
Tinie Tempah – He pulls it off everytime with his daring and stylish looks, I love his choice of coats and how he always chooses something which isn’t ‘safe’ but quirky and cool.

Burberry Fall 2014

Burberry Fall 2014
Gorgeous autumnal shades of brown, red and green were seen on the Burberry runway for the fall collection 2014. Sheep wool suede jackets and full length coats made an appearance on the catwalk with fabulous hand painted detail effect handbags of gold and pink. Scarves and wrap overs were another key trend worn not only conventionally around the neck but over shoulders as a chic and colourful accessory. As usual Burberry hit the nail on the head with this cosy and cool collection ready for windy days and chilly nights.

Check Mate

Check Mate
Checkered patterns are suddenly becoming more popular in the fashion world. Celebrities such as Alexa Chung (featured in the set), Kirsten Dunst and Kristen Stewart have recently been snapped wearing them. I decided to create an outfit which could be dressed up for going out in or dressed down for work. The checkered A-line mini skirt with the cream button up shirt looks fabulous and girly particularly with the heeled brogues. The skirt with the top will nip your waist in and when worn slightly high will extend the look of your legs (always a bonus!). These items teamed together create a very classy but fun look, and to add some more checks buy a tartan or checked patterned bag. Finally the gold necklace accessory will add a bit of glam and the glasses add a bit of geek chic.
