Autumn/Winter Couture Dresses 2015

Dolce and Gabbana Couture

Autumn/Winter couture has been flawless this season with designers providing the runways with a fantastic array of styles and shades all with a real luxurious feel. Dolce and Gabbana’s Alta Moda showcase of dresses gave a fabulous display of tropical prints with full and bright skirts and jeweled bodices, and with extravagant head pieces of jewels and bouquets of flowers a theatrical look was created at the event. Some of my favourite dresses from AW15 couture are shown below and these examples show the real diversity in the styles each designer has created. The first dress (far left) comes from designer Alberta Ferretti who creates a soft and feminine look through the earthy green tones and pretty floral prints, however with added sex appeal in the form of a plunging neckline and a cross over back. The second dress from Ralph and Russo however gives a more effortless look of glamour and class with pinstriped sheer detail and a heavy caped overlay. Although the dress seems simple, this simplicity was certainly a winner for me and its snowy ice queen feel stunned on the runway. Valentino (always one of my favourite couture designers) created modern gothic looks with high necks, black netting and lace inserts. The dress below (centre) was intricate and cool with its sheer material and black polka dots, gold accessories and raised shoulders to create a noir inspired dress. The other end of the spectrum, and a dress which stood out for its blue candy floss style feathering, was the Versace couture gown. I love how the dress was like a new take on cinderellas ball gown, with a structured plunging bodice, cascading split skirt with blue feathered detail to create a fun and girly dress but which was still very chic. Finally no one can beat Elie Saab for dresses and one day I hope I can afford to buy one of his fabulous creations! Possible my favourite look so far is in the form of this glitzy gold long sleeved dress with glitter embellishment. The dress fits in all the right places with a cinched in belted waist and flared shoulders, this is a dress fit for a goddess. Couture aw15

Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet

bbma awardsThis years key trend at the Billboard Music Awards hosted in Las Vegas was definitely to opt out on a dress and instead wear some of the most fab trouser suits, jumpsuits and playsuits designed by top names such as Balmain, Elie Saab and Fausto Puglisi. As seen in the image above, A-listers such as the beautiful Chrissy Teigen had fun with their red carpet fashion by wearing retro styles with the sexy plunging neckline, 70’s retro stripe print and flared leg. Both Stefani Scott and Zandaya went for trouser suits/ co-ords with girly crop tops in bold prints, while Stefani looked quirky and awesome in high waisted red trousers and rose print bralet, Zandaya showed off her amazing figure in legging style trousers in a black and white animal print. However my favourite looks came from 3 celebs in particular and these I will run through below.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift the ‘Bad Blood’ star absolutely stunned in this awesome Balmain, cut out, sparkle, flared jumpsuit. Although it was such a simple look, it was definitely one of my favourite red carpet looks the star has gone for and showed off her girly and fun side with a huge splash of glitter glamour.

Olivia Culpo

Olivia Culpo

Beauty Queen Olivia Culpo went for something a little different to everyone else which I really loved and unlike some looks you love on the red carpet but couldn’t wear yourself, this Elie Saab black sparkle playsuit would be so great even for a night out on the town. Her slicked back and dead straight hair really added to this downplayed and chic look and it was all about the little shiny details, with jeweled heels and big jeweled earrings.

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenners look was obviously going to be great as she was wearing Balmain (an obvious winner on the red carpet this year!), but what was most exciting about this look was that it will soon be available to H&M shoppers! Yes! This is Balmain x H&M, the high street brand is collaborating with Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing to bring some amazing pieces to selected stores so watch out for this beautifully detailed velvet cross over jacket, which will definitely be on my shopping list!

The Oscars Red Carpet 2015

oscars 2015

Stars of this years Oscars took real inspiration from the famous Jessica Rabbit style side split dress, choosing dresses with a little bit of reveal,  but with an Oscars edge of glamour. Not only were rich red and gold dresses worn but shades of white, steely blue and champagne and lace and jeweled fabrics were seen on the celebs. These are my top favorite dresses and styles worn on the star studded red carpet last night in Los Angeles, California.

Emma Stone – Emma Stone couldn’t look more glam in this stunning Eli Saab dress which looked amazing with its daring side split and cut out sheer feature of the dress paired with matching gold heels. The style suited her small frame and fitted her figure perfectly, creating a red carpet winning outfit.

Chrissy Teigan – This is a woman who knows how to dress the red carpet! She always pulls off sexy and risky styles with a classic glamour that never looks too much, which is a hard job when wearing a Zuhair Murad dress with a combination of plunging neckline and a thigh-high split! But by styling retro waved hair with striking burgundy lipstick to give a classy and cool look, this outfit gives just the right amount of seductive style.

Rosamund Pike – This is a definite winner for me as I love this Givenchy red dress, which really is the epitome of red carpet style. The delicate lace embellished fabric looked amazing and the figure hugging shape of the dress suits the gone Girl actress perfectly and looks fab with her natural peachy makeup and up-do hairstyle. The front split to the dress adds a little edge and shows just the right amount of leg making it another perfect mix of class and sass.

Dakota Johnson – Although a little tame for this 50 shades star, the dress really does suit Dakota and is a gorgeous tone of red on her pale complexion. I also love the asymmetric one shoulder style of the Saint Laurent gown and the sweetheart neckline.

Jennifer Aniston – The Cake star (who deserved a nomination!) looked incredible in a Versace champagne gown. Once again showing off the asymmetric trend, this one shoulder dress gave a gorgeous glow from its beautiful and shimmering fabric. The dress hugged the star perfectly showing off her curves and a little leg from a cheeky side split and sheer material on one half of the gown.

Jenna Dewan Tatum – Another Zuhair Murad gown was worn last night by the beautiful Jenna Dewan Tatum, who wore the couture gown with a Lee Savage gold clutch. A plunging neckline always gives a little fierceness to an awards gown and she paired her jeweled accessories with the delicate jewels on her gown to create a dazzling and elegant look.
