Boss in Blue

boss spring 2016

Boss’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection boasted beautiful hues of blue in the form of a two tone cocoon coat, blue animal print tailored suits and collared dresses. This pastel shade is a classic and my favorite Spring/Summer shade, particularly styled in this way with black shoes and accessories to create a chic and smart look. Here I have found a few powder blue pieces to throw into your wardrobe to nail this future trend before the rest!

Platforms are a hit at the moment, particularly with the 70’s trends which are key for Summer 2015 and can be found in all the highstreet shops and department stores. I love these Zara Leather Platform Heels £49.99 as they have a suede finish (another on point trend) and the chunky heel makes them so much easier to strut in. Wear them with some black highwaisted shorts and a flowy tucked in blouse for a pretty summer look.

High neck jumpers were commonly found in the collection and would be a fab way of making use of this shade. This comfy and relaxed French Connection Spring Mozart high neck Jumper for £69, will create a relaxed look paired with some skinny ankle grazing black jeans and some black and white patent flats (like Boss styling) and a cute matching mini tote bag.

Cocoon coats are going to be big this fall with designers such as Max Mara using them in shows over 1950’s style pencil skirts and knit jumpers. This coat is a huge bargain and perfect to grab now while it’s on sale ready for the autumn and perfect for when it gets a little chilly on summer nights. This Missguided Lena Oversized Cocoon Coat Powder Blue for £20 would look fab for casual looks of jeans and jumpers or to be worn to drinks in the city over a mini dress.

This is a very simple piece, but from the looks of it mini skirts are very much a stylish piece at the moment and would be worth grabbing to wear on nights out or casually with an oversized jumper and some Nike trainers. This Pretty Little Thing Emilia Powder Blue Crepe Mini Skirt is only £6 and a basic staple piece for your wardrobe this summer.

The Fringe

Fringing has been a trend seen on so many runways over the past few fashion weeks. Designers such as Alexander Wang, placed fringing on hemlines to create a cool rock chick look while Jonathan Saunders made use of folksy fringing for a more boho trend. Here are a few high street fringing picks I found to get the look!

27U03GNUD_2_largeTopshop Fringe Lace Top and Pencil Skirt: £140

A sweet and feminine look and a great take on a flapper style dress. Perfect for summer balls and cocktail parties.

5415444800110_092_d Urban Outfitters Urban Renewal Vintage One-of-a-Kind Cropped Fringe Jacket: £135

This is a really cool look and a great way to add a little rocknroll to any outfit, this one-of-a-kind jacket is a definite center piece for any cool summer look.

CASALNUOYO_37_RG_324 Aldo Leather Casalnuoyo Ankle Boots in Taupe: £130

A little bit more plain than some looks but this is a good hint of fringing without going to mad, but the taupe colour is a definite winner for me and i love how they could be worn with a floaty boho skirt or a good pair of skinny jeans.

A real bargain for a real leather bag and a must for the fringing trend as fringed accessories look amazing and add a real flair to any old outfit.

The Grammys – Red carpet top picks!

The Grammys was a fabulous and glitzy array of beautiful people in jaw-dropping outfits last night, with a variety of styles and trends found on the red carpet. Not only were there the usual stunning dresses by the likes of Elie Saab (worn by Taylor Swift) and Prada (worn by Rita Ora), but quirky choices were also seen by the likes of Charlie XCX who wore a suit by Moschino with a pink bow tie and the eye-catching and Disney princess-esque couture Giambattista Valli gown, worn by Rihanna. However to go with these statement outfits, natural beauty was a key trend found on the night, with celebs playing down the makeup with simple and effortless updos, nude lips and a little eyeshadow seen on Chrissy Teigen and Ciara (above). Another trend was plunging necklines to reveal a little cleavage and add some va va voom to the outfit which could be seen on the likes of Beyonce (wearing Proenza Schouler), Lady Gaga (wearing Brandon Maxwell) and Kim Kardashian who wore a daring Jean Paul Gaultier gown with her brand new short haircut, which really added edge to her look. My favorite outfit of the night had to be Taylor Swift’s as she always gets it right with a fun, young look which dares to be a little different. This Elie Saab dress looked amazing, particularly with the choice of pink heels to add a little more pop to the outfit along with Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira jewelry.

Christian Dior – Spring/Summer ’15

00040h_320x480 00280h_320x48000170h_320x480

Raf Simons really pulled Spring fashion out of the bag with this show. Gorgeous sunny tones of yellow, blue and of course the drop dead orange latex legging boots stood out amazingly. Dior always delivers sophistication and class with its style, with the sleek and simple pulled back hair and natural palettes of makeup, but this show really emphasized the fun to fashion, plucking old classics from the 60’s and 70’s and updating them into the 21st century. For instance A-line full skirts with tight busted tops oozed 60’s glamour, while sequinned jumpsuits, bold and bright geometric patterned outfits and transparent overcoats gave a funky 70’s edge. Here are some of my top picks from the runway.

Celeb fashion: Amber Heard

Celeb fashion: Amber Heard
Amber Heard has a classic Hollywood look inspired by the likes of Marilyn Monroe, with her blonde curls, red lips and curvy figure, she can pull off both effortless casual looks, and va va voom formal wear. If wanting a casual Amber inspired outfit, choose a simple pair of blue jeans and a denim shirt. I know most people say NO! to double denim, but put some brown chelsea boots, a camel coat and some red nail polish and you will look simply stylish. For a nightout or posh occasion, think Jessica Rabbit. Put on some red lipstick find a gorgeous and bright dress, here I’ve chosen a sensational orange colour, paired with black heels and a simple black clutch as you won’t want to draw away from the statement piece. Blow dry your hair big and voluptuous and you will be Heard.

Zing in yellow!

Zing in yellow!
It’s been a while since I last posted on here so bare with me! I recently caught up with the glamour of the Golden Globes and couldn’t get over the lovely zingy yellow and lemon colour dresses on the red carpet, beautifully illustarted by Leslie Mann (wearing Kaufman Franco), Naomi Watts (wearing Gucci) and my personal fav Jenna Dewan (wearing Carolina Herrera). As my first post this year I thought I would attempt at making some cute outfits which incorporate the fresh Spring season shade into casual looks. The first outfit uses the beautiful yellow coat as a statement piece to the casual and predictable jeans and heel look. The yellow coat would look great with a dark top, funky shades and some killer heels like these burgundy Topshop ones, for only £58! The second outfit is cute and fun with the yellow mini skirt and sheer shirt, I did try and look for a fun gingham or check shirt which would also look amazing with this simple skirt. Stripes are also a great look with the yellow and blue really highlights the colour perfectly! Match your bag to your shoes and you will look on point.
